The compactor has safety interlocks and will not operate unless you have (1) closed the trash drawer, (2) turned key to unlocked (vertical) position, and (3) pushed the Start button. The Stop button will stop the ram movement at any point. After stopping the unit, push the start button and ram will return to its original up position. Caution: Do not allow children to operate compactor. It is recommended that you lock the unit, and remove the key when the unit is not in use.
The power cord on compactor is equipped with a three-pronged grounding plug. The third prong is designed to ground the cabinet electrically, thus eliminating the possibility of shocking the operator if an internal electrical malfunction should occur.
It is essential that the electrical outlet into which the three-pronged power cord is inserted by properly grounded. If in doubt, a competent electrician should be contacted to check the outlet.
Connecting Compactor to Electricity. The compactor operates on regular 120-volt AC, 60-hertz house current, to be supplied by an approved three-prong grounded receptacle. The House current circuit should be protected by a 15-ampere fuse, or circuit breaker.
To connect the compactor to electricity (1) be sure the key is in (tie locked position, (2) and insert the three-pronged plug into a three-prong receptacle. If the wall receptacle is not a three-prong grounding type, one should be installed. Caution: The use of an extension cord is not recommended.
Accessory Items. Two keys, trash bags, and replacement charcoal filters are delivered with the compactor. Additional keys may be obtained from the manufacturer. Additional trash bags and replacement filters may be purchased at your dealers.
Optional Items. Trim kit. A trim kit is available through your dealer for use with 1/4-inch wood, laminate, or other front panel of your choice to accent kitchen decor. Front panel material must be obtained locally.
Hardwood top. A finished, 11/i-inch thick, hardwood cutting-board top is available through your dealer. The height of the compactor with a wood top is adjustable—from 351/i inches to 36 inches.
Leveling Compactor. The compactor has four leveling feet that will vary the height and provide level stability within a range of 1//2 inch. Simply raise or lower as required for your particular installation mum size opening required is 18 inches wide, 24 inches deep, and 341/4 inches high. Note: A minimum Y4-inch clearance should be maintained between compactor top and counter top for service accessibility, if required.
